Community Guidelines
ParkMates exists so that people who love the parks can find each other, plan together and keep the friendship going after the trip. That only works if everyone feels welcome and safe. Here is what we ask of every member.
The short version: be kind, be honest, be an adult, keep other people’s private lives private, and remember that the person on the other side of the screen is real.
1. Be respectful
- No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation or stalking — in posts, comments, Clubs or direct messages.
- No hate speech. Attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or similar characteristics are not allowed.
- Disagree about parks, rides, snacks and strategies all you like. Attack ideas, not people.
2. Adults only, and keep it appropriate
- ParkMates is an 18+ community. Do not create an account if you are under 18, and do not help someone under 18 use one.
- No sexual content, nudity or sexual solicitation. Any sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities.
- No glorification of self-harm, violence or dangerous activities.
3. Be who you say you are
- No impersonating other people, creators, companies, park employees or ParkMates staff.
- No fake accounts, bought engagement, vote manipulation or coordinated inauthentic behaviour.
- Creator badges are issued by ParkMates. Do not claim creator or official status you have not been granted.
4. Keep Compass honest
Compass restaurant and hotel reviews help other fans decide where to eat and stay. Write about places you actually visited, say what you really think, and disclose if you were paid or given anything in exchange for a review. Reviews written for money or by businesses about themselves are removed.
5. Respect privacy
- Do not post other people’s private information — home address, phone number, workplace, travel dates, children’s names or schools — without their clear permission.
- Do not share photos or messages someone sent you privately.
- Photographs of strangers, especially children, taken in the parks should not be posted without consent.
6. Meeting in person
ParkMates helps you find people who will be at the same park at the same time. We do not verify identities and we cannot vouch for anyone. If you decide to meet:
- Meet in a public place inside the park or resort, during the day, and tell someone you trust where you are going.
- Keep your own transport and your own plans; never feel obliged to stay.
- Trust your instincts, and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
7. Intellectual property and independence
- ParkMates is an independent fan community and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company or any theme park operator. Do not suggest otherwise.
- Only upload photos, videos and text you created or have permission to share. Copyright owners can send a notice using the process in our Terms; repeat infringers lose their accounts.
- Do not use ParkMates to sell, trade or solicit unauthorised merchandise, tickets or reservations.
8. No spam, scams or unapproved advertising
- No unsolicited commercial messages, affiliate dumps, repetitive posting, link farming or engagement bait.
- No scams, phishing, “too good to be true” ticket or hotel deals, or requests for money.
- Businesses that want to reach the community can do so only through ParkMates for Business, where sponsored content is clearly labelled.
9. Nothing illegal
Do not use ParkMates to plan, promote or carry out anything illegal, including trespassing in restricted park areas, theft, fraud or the sale of controlled substances.
10. How moderation works
- Posts, comments, reviews and photos are screened automatically when you publish them (see our Privacy Policy for what that involves). Flagged items are held for a human reviewer before they appear, or removed.
- Direct messages are not screened automatically; a reviewer may look at a conversation that is reported.
- Depending on severity we may remove content, issue a warning, add a strike, restrict what your account can do, suspend it, or ban it. Serious safety risks and illegal content are acted on immediately, without notice.
- Strikes expire over time; serious strikes stay on the record. If your account is deleted, de-identified moderation history is retained so that abuse cannot be erased by re-registering.
- If you think we got it wrong, appeal from the Safety Center in the app. A person will look at it.
11. Reporting and blocking
Every post, comment and profile has a report option; direct messages can be reported from the conversation. Blocking a member hides you from each other everywhere in the app. Reports are confidential — the person you report is not told who reported them.
12. Changes
We will update these guidelines as the community grows and will tell you in the app when something important changes.
